FELLOW WATER SKIER AND WAKEBOARDER! Members of the Mid-Valley Water Ski Club would like to welcome you, your family and friends to organized water skiing in Central California. Our intent here is to inform you about our organization, purpose, history, activities, and goals.
History in Brief Since Mid-Valley Water Ski Club was formed in 1974, we have grown into one of the most active water ski organizations in the area. Although most of our activities are during the summer months, we are quite active during the winter as well. Throughout the years, we have hosted numerous USA Water Ski class C and National Ski League (NSL) tournaments with wakeboard, kneeboard, slalom, and disabled events. In 1979, with careful planning and preparation, Mid-Valley finally found a home. Our members received approval from the Stanislaus County Parks Department and the Board of Supervisors to use a portion of Modesto Reservoir known as the back dam area to install a slalom course and boat dock. In 2001, Mid-Valley and All Abilities Ski Club in cooperation with the Stanislaus County Parks Department began a capital fund-raising campaign to develop an accessible dock and support facilities at Modesto Reservoir.
Mid-Valley is a "family oriented" club and its activities also include our "Tournament Series", social barbecues, work parties to maintain our ski site, monthly meetings, and other related activities. As with Mid-Valley, hundreds of ski clubs and thousands of water skiers have affiliated themselves with USA Water Ski. USA Water Ski is the national governing board for the sport of water skiing and protects your right to ski by passing much needed legislation, insures our facilities and skiers, and sets the basic guidelines for our events.
Mission Statement Members of Mid-Valley Water Ski Club believe that the sport of organized water skiing is a safe and low impact family sport that provides great fun and exercise for everyone regardless of age, ability, or physical disability. Mid-Valley Water Ski Club is a non-profit organization whose members join together to promote boat and water sport safety through organized activities such as tournament competition, learning clinics for beginners, and community service groups. Our active members not only want to improve their skiing, but as volunteers, give something back to the sport as well. On or off the water, our members believe in good family values and practice good sportsmanship.
